people in Charlotte, and she is always finding new talent. The sister duo at Hidell Brooks Gallery make great suggestions for my clients, and they complement each other so well. Downtown at Sozo Gallery, owned by Hannah Blanton, I pick up pieces from my favorite mixed-media artist, Miles Purvis. I also send clients to Anne Neilson Fine Art, where they are extremely adept at helping clients de- fine their interest and style. They carry artists I admire, such as William McLure, Caroline Boykin, and Kerry Steele. The jewelry and tabletop shop Elizabeth Bruns has impeccable ser- vice and gorgeous jewelry, silver, and gifts. Morrison Smith Jewelers is a Char- lotte insti tution. I would go there as a child with my aunt—they still do hand engraving and custom work. For flowers, I pop in The Blossom Shop to find beau- tiful flowers for photo shoots or to pick up a bouquet for friends or my bedside table. For client arrangements, I turn to Karisa Pennell of Nectar. Her designs blow people away! WHAT TO SEE Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary is an iconic oasis in the heart of Charlotte and captures the history, the gardens, the bird habitat—it's wonderful. There is always something interesting going on at the Mint Museum on Randolph Road (another location is downtown, or Uptown, as some Charlotteans call it). André Leon Talley recently curated an Oscar de la Renta exhibit there, which was fantastic. The McGill Rose Garden is one of those hidden gems on the edge of NoDa, the arts district. It's a tradition to stroll through the rose bushes (over 500!) on Mother's Day.
